CECILIA SANCHIETTI

MUSICIAN – DRUMMER – COMPOSER

Cecilia Sanchietti is an Italian drummer and composer, art director of WInJazz – Women in Jazz festival and an experienced percussion teacher.

In 2017 she was awarded by Sabian percussion brand as weekly winner of  NYCHit Like A Girl“, the sixth annual global drumming contest for female percussionists.

In 2009  she won the recognition of Outstanding Musicianship Award by Berklee College of Boston for talented musicians.

In 2017 was published a complete interview on “DrumsetMag” National Magazine for Drummers and percussionist.

She released her first album “Circle Time” Cecilia Sanchietti Jazz Project in 2015 by Alfa Music. The Album was presented both in Italy and abroad, in an international tour including Casa del Jazz (Rome, Italy), Batterika Festival, Filodrammatica (Rjieka, Croatia), KinoTeatr Rialto (Katowice, Poland), Karamel (London, UK), B-Flat and Cafè Taso(Berlin, Germany), Lucca Jazz Festival (2015, Italy).

In november 2016 Cecilia created her second original project like leader, drummer and composer, in trio, “La terza via” (The third side of the coin), with compositions focussed on courage issue, in a modern jazz style, performing with high level musicians, such as Pierpaolo Principato on piano and Marco Siniscalco on electric bass. “La terza via” was presented in Rome and performed in the main jazz venues in Rome. Album coming soon with Nicolas Kummert, belgian tenor sax, special guest.

She studied with Mimmo Antonini, Emanuele Smimmo (Latin-Jazz) and Fabrizio Sferra (Jazz). She learned  percussions with Massimo Carrano at “PercentoMusica” of Rome, Member of the International Association of School of Jazz (IASJ). She studied armony with Federica Zammarchi and Edoardo Ravaglia. She attended classes with Francisco Mela, Tony Monaco and Dado Moroni at “Tuscia in Jazz”, and classes with Ron Savage, Ken Cervenka and David Boato at the “Berklee, College of Boston”, Umbria Jazz Clinics.

Cecilia collaborated and performed with (among which): Marco Siniscalco, Pierpaolo Principato, David Boato, Stefano Scatozza, Federica Zammarchi, Antonello Sorrentino, Enrico Zanisi, Paolo Tombolesi, Arturo Valiante, Giorgio Cuscito, Gianluca Massetti, Adriano Urso, Davide Grottelli, Francesca Tandoi, Caterina Palazzi, Mariangela Aruanno.

She collaborated with Javier Girotto, Rita Marcotulli, Giovanna Marini, Nada, Lucilla Galeazzi, Cristina Comencini, Lunetta Savino, Gabriella Aiello, Andrea Satta, Raffaella Misiti, like member of the “Orchestra del 41esimo parallelo”.  With the Orchestra performed in the main Italian Festival and locations  (Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome, Teatro Ghione, Civita Castellana  Festival, Festival Nigro Grotte di Pertosa opening  Noa performance, Festival Perdonanza Aquila, Voci di donne Festival Sassari, Teatro Villa Torlonia, Teatro Quarticciolo, Teatro Auditorium Massimo, Teatro di Tor Bella Monaca, Anfiteatro di Trento, Teatro Santa Chiara etc…).

Other important cooperations: the famous Italian pop singer Carmen Consoli (Auditorium Parco  Musica of Rome) ; the songwriter Fabio Abate (Auditorium Parco Musica of Rome, Zoo Catania etc …) ; Luca Madonia songwriter (Top of the Pop’s Raidue). She collaborated with the label “On the road”.

In popular music she is playing with the songwriter Agnese Valle and performed in two albums “Anche oggi piove forte” (2013) and “Allenamento al buonumore” (2016) (Finalist in Tenco Award; Bianca D’Aponte critic award).

Cecilia performed live also in some theatre shows around Italy (Anfiteatro Romano Lecce, Teatro Casaletto, Teatro Showville Bari, etc…):

She received by Yamaha the certificate like professional teacher.
